THE SHORT VERSION
📚
PASTOR gives guidance, not legal advice, and is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. Everything below is here so you can judge its answers for yourself.
PASTOR ofrece orientación, no asesoría legal.
⚖️
The reference material comes from published federal standards and recognized industry standards, and a person writes and reviews it before it reaches a worker. The conversation around it is AI-generated, and every claim it makes is drawn from that reviewed material.
💬
PASTOR always tells you what kind of answer you are getting: a federal rule, an industry standard, or practical field knowledge.

The source material

De dónde viene la información

PASTOR carries 82 reviewed reference entries covering construction and healthcare safety. They are built from federal OSHA standards published in the Code of Federal Regulations, the OSH Act, OSHA’s own published guidance, and recognized industry standards including ANSI, NFPA, NIOSH, The Joint Commission, and CMS. Where state law differs from federal — Texas in particular — that difference is stated separately rather than blended in.

Every citation links to the source

Cada cita enlaza a la fuente

When PASTOR shows a worker a reference card, that card carries four things: what kind of authority it is, the specific standard, a link to the actual government page, and the date the rule set was last reviewed.

A worker should never have to take PASTOR’s word for it. Federal standards link to OSHA’s own site. State provisions link to the state agency. Consensus standards link to the body that publishes them.

How the 82 entries classify
Federal regulation — 36  ·  Federal law — 30  ·  Site practice — 8  ·  State law — 5  ·  Other reference — 3

The eight site-practice entries are the honest ones. They say plainly that no published federal standard requires it — the practice is what good sites do, not what the law demands. Blurring that line would mislead a worker making a real decision.

Three tiers, never blurred

Tres niveles, nunca mezclados

Calling a site policy “the law” would mislead a worker making a real decision. PASTOR always says which kind of answer it is giving.

Federal rule
A specific federal standard covers this. The protection is stated plainly, in language a worker can use.
Industry standard
No federal rule requires it exactly, but ANSI, NFPA, or site safety practice governs it. PASTOR says clearly what the law does and does not cover.
Field knowledge
Neither a regulation nor a standard covers it. This is the practical answer an experienced person would give, and PASTOR says so.

Written in both languages

Escrito en ambos idiomas

All 82 entries exist in English and Spanish. They were written in both languages, not machine-translated at the moment you ask. A worker reading in Spanish gets the same substance, in the same register, as a worker reading in English.

Who writes and reviews it

Quién lo escribe y lo revisa

PASTOR was built by a safety professional with over eleven years in the field. That started as craft labor — two years building scaffolding, then a stretch in commercial demolition — before eleven years on the safety side.

That work covered refineries, chemical plants, pharmaceutical builds, data centers, solar, power generation, and manufacturing. Permit systems, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, hot work, trenching, scaffolding, and incident investigation. Somewhere between three and four hundred workers oriented and trained across those sites.

A number of those assignments came down to being bilingual. When the workforce was Spanish-speaking, being understood was not a nice extra — it was the job. That is why PASTOR was built in two languages from the start rather than translated afterward.

Every entry is reviewed by a person before it reaches a worker. Healthcare content is informed by a registered nurse with bilingual clinical experience.

A commercial AI model powers the conversation. It does not decide what the rules are — it delivers reviewed content in plain language and matches the way a worker is speaking. The judgment about what is accurate stays with a person.

How it stays current

Cómo se mantiene actualizado

PASTOR follows OSHA’s own publication schedule. OSHA publishes QuickTakes twice monthly, covering rulemaking, enforcement actions, and compliance updates. Each issue is a review trigger.

Changes are recorded in a review log with the date, what changed, and which entries were affected. The review date at the top of this page reflects the most recent pass. If that date is old, this page will show it rather than hide it.

Field reports

Reportes del campo

Some entries exist because of something that happened to a real worker — an employer refusing a required illness report, a supervisor claiming reports are only for injuries, a refusal that reversed only after someone went a level higher and named the requirement out loud.

These shape what PASTOR covers and how it recognizes an excuse. They never determine what the law says. No worker is ever named, and no conversation with PASTOR is ever used this way — nothing said to PASTOR is stored.

What PASTOR is not
